Moon by Moon Journal

A Guided Journal for a Year of Well-Being

Bringing Mikvah to Rosh Chodesh

Although it's not (yet!) traditional to immerse on Rosh Chodesh, these two practices go beautifully together.

Healing Waters

The Jewish practice of immersion, known as mikvah, offers the ability to uplift and sanctify sacred moments. For thousands of years, Jewish people have used mikvah to mark a moment of change.

Lunar Cycles

In Jewish tradition, each new moon is a holiday known as Rosh Chodesh, the beginning of a new month. Each month brings its own spiritual invitations, and this time holds a sense of deep renewal and possibility.

The Moon by Moon Journal empowers you to...

✓  Spend time each month in sacred reflection, tapping into your own wisdom and the Divine voice within

✓  Learn what soul work you’re being invited into at this exact moment, and how to make the most of each month

✓  Create a personal Rosh Chodesh (new moon) practice that anchors your life within the ancient lunar cycles

A Peek Inside

Each monthly chapter weaves together teachings, inspiration, and gentle prompts for your own inner wisdom to come forth.

What is sacred time?

No matter what day your phone tells you it is, or where your calendar says you need to be at 6pm tonight, you are also part of a much deeper and more subtle spiritual rhythm.

This is the beauty of Jewish sacred time.

For thousands of years, Jewish wisdom has taught about keeping time by the moon, known as Rosh Chodesh. This cycle has so much to teach you about your own transformations and phases. Journaling is the perfect way to begin.

Bring sacred time right to your nightstand

The Moon by Moon journal helps you tap into the spiritual energy of each lunar month in the Hebrew Calendar — so you can craft your most aligned year ever.

"If you bring yourself genuinely to this practice, you can’t help but be changed by it."

How It Works

We designed this journal to become part of your life, moon by moon. Here’s how to build your monthly practice.

Get Grounded

If you're new to the wisdom of sacred Jewish time, we're here for you! Your journal begins with the essential grounding you need to understand how each month's spiritual energy, element, Jewish Zodiac, and sense. You'll get the key details on where they come from and why they matter in your life.

Find the New Moon

Use the enclosed bookmark to track when the next Rosh Chodesh (new moon) will be. It’s a magical experience to make space for this self-reflection on the night of Rosh Chodesh. When you do, you know that people around the world are holding space, too, to honor this ancient ritual.

Can’t do it that night? It’s alright — there’s no wrong time for introspection!

Set the Scene and Write

Light a candle, diffuse some essential oils, make yourself comfortable, and write for an hour in your favorite chair. You’ll find journaling prompts specific to this month and its spiritual invitations, to help you live in greater alignment with yourself and with sacred time. We suggest writing each answer without pausing, so you stay open to the flow of ideas and truth.

Write On

Want more time to write? Make another date with yourself! The spiritual energy of the month continues to grow as the moon waxes, before peaking at the full moon. It lingers throughout the second half of the month as well. Your beautiful ribbon bookmark will hold your spot until your next writing session.

Can I order this if I'm not Jewish?

Yes — the ancient Jewish practice of celebrating the new moon has so much to offer in supporting your well-being! This is true whether you identify as Jewish or not.

What does a new moon practice look like?

Our ancestors have been marking time by the moon for thousands of years. But there's no one "right" way to craft your new moon practice!

Here's what we recommend:
- Set aside one evening a month to journal for an hour or so. It's ideal to choose the night of Rosh Chodesh (the return of a new crescent moon), but you can be flexible as needed.

- Create a quiet, screen-free space where you can fully immerse yourself in the journaling experience. It's lovely to light a candle and dim the lights. (If you choose the Sacred Time Bundle, you'll also receive a pre-journaling meditation that's perfect for setting the right mindset and mood.)

- Start by reading the monthly introduction and intention-setting, then continue to the journaling prompts. Listen to the first answer that comes forward in your heart, and fill the space without stopping. This approach to journaling allows for surprise and revelation.

- Feel gratitude for yourself for setting aside this time, and feel a sense of connection with women around the world who are creating sacred moments alongside you.

- Blow out the candle and return to "ordinary time" feeling more relaxed, grounded, and open to the month ahead.

What are the benefits of a new moon practice?

By regularly practicing your new moon journaling ritual, you can expect to feel more grounded, at peace, and in tune with your inner wisdom. (Plus, you'll find that you intuitively keep tabs on the moon's phases throughout the month.)

Each month, you'll have this special moment to look forward to — and an anchor that helps you feel connected to the greater rhythms of the generations before you. It's a transformative journey of self-care and spiritual connection.

"I give myself permission to move slowly, indeed moving only as fast as the slowest part of myself.”
