A Note to Nonbinary People Seeking a Rosh Chodesh Practice

Welcome to At The Well!

We are so excited that you’re interested in Rosh Chodesh and our work to enhance well-being using Jewish wisdom. We’re glad you’re here, and to show our appreciation and respect, we want to tell you about our organization and resources.

We have a special love for Rosh Chodesh, the start of each new Jewish month, and we believe it is a healing and transformative ritual that belongs to people of all genders. Our organization was created to specifically uplift women in the context of Rosh Chodesh, and our mission is to enhance women’s well-being through ancient Jewish practices. When we say women, we mean all women under the cis and trans umbrellas.

If you find At The Well’s spaces meet your needs as a nonbinary person, we welcome and benefit from your participation in this community. If you prefer a nonbinary-specific space to cultivate your Rosh Chodesh practice, we understand, and we can help you locate or create that — both within At The Well and through other organizations listed below. We know the power of affinity spaces.

Some of our events are specifically for nonbinary people; some are specifically for women; and some are specific to particular embodied experiences like menstruation. The majority of our events are welcoming to all who identify as women or nonbinary. We hope you’ll join us!

We’ve been working closely with Shine Diversity and JQ International to create spaces for nonbinary voices and lived experiences within At The Well, including holding focus groups to hear the needs of the nonbinary community. While our mission continues to be about women, we welcome and encourage nonbinary people using At The Well resources. We are glad to support any nonbinary-specific Well Circles that emerge, and we are regularly adding Moon Manual resources created by nonbinary writers into our library.

If you’re seeking additional resources outside of At The Well, please check out the following:

We hope that your connection with Rosh Chodesh will flourish, wherever you choose to pursue it. Please always feel free to reach out to us at hello@atthewellproject.com if we can support you further.

With love,

Team At The Well
